Cut museum mounting board, poplar inner frame

Claire Kahn presents Topo III, one work in the artist's limited collection of fine art pieces brought to you for her latest exhibition, Saturated. Working with multiple layers of museum mounting board, the artist carefully removes portions to reveal a stunning cut composition. Layer by layer, her piece is realized in a 3D topographical illustration. Elongated lines and asymmetrical shapes flow in independent planes, with some mirroring one another in whimsical, yet subtle formation. Although the eye is taken with the lure of its monochromatic ease, the true energy is felt in the interplay of light as it interacts with the various dimensional surfaces. In many ways, the work is a wonderful display of Kahn's keen sense of pattern and space.
